PORT MORESBY — A landmark partnership between PNG Fashion Week and LifeCon Samoa is creating new opportunities for designers from Papua New Guinea and Samoa to showcase their work across the Pacific.

Through the reciprocal agreement, Samoan designers will travel to Papua New Guinea to participate in PNG Fashion Week, while Papua New Guinean designers will have opportunities to travel to Samoa and showcase at LifeCon Samoa.

The partnership represents more than an exchange between two fashion events. It creates a lasting cultural and creative bridge through which designers can build international experience, develop professional networks and introduce their work to new audiences.

The agreement was secured by emerging Papua New Guinean designer David Kila-Pat, who represented PNG Fashion Week at the LifeCon event in Samoa in July 2026.

His participation demonstrated how one opportunity given to an emerging designer can create pathways for many others. By building relationships in Samoa and representing Papua New Guinea with confidence, Kila-Pat helped establish a lifetime partnership that will continue connecting creatives from both countries.

PNG Fashion Week said the initiative reflected its commitment to taking Papua New Guinean talent beyond the national runway and creating meaningful opportunities throughout the Pacific.

The partnership also allows Samoa and Papua New Guinea to celebrate their shared Pacific identity while respecting the distinct cultures, traditions and stories expressed through their fashion.

Samoan designers participating in PNG Fashion Week 2026 will bring their creativity and cultural perspectives to Port Moresby, strengthening the event’s growing position as a meeting place for Pacific fashion.

In return, Papua New Guinean designers will be able to carry the country’s stories, textiles and contemporary design identity to Samoa through LifeCon.

This is an achievement for both nations and an example of what becomes possible when Pacific organisations work together to build their own regional opportunities.

PNG Fashion Week invites all Papua New Guineans to attend the 2026 event, welcome the visiting Samoan designers and support the local creatives representing the future of the country’s fashion industry.

PNG Fashion Week 2026 will be held on 18 and 19 September at APEC Haus in Port Moresby.
