PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea — PNG Fashion Week has officially opened applications for Industry Access ahead of its 2026 program at APEC Haus on 18 and 19 September, inviting retailers, buyers, media professionals, photographers, videographers, content creators and members of the wider creative sector to take their place at one of Papua New Guinea’s most important fashion events.
Industry Access is a special accreditation designed for people and organisations whose professional participation can help advance the work of designers, models, artists and other creative practitioners.
While general admission tickets allow audiences to experience and support PNG Fashion Week, Industry Access serves a more targeted purpose. It brings the people who create fashion into the same space as those who can purchase it, stock it, promote it, document it, invest in it and introduce it to new audiences and markets.
PNG Fashion Week believes the gathering of industry professionals is essential to the continued development of Papua New Guinea’s fashion and creative economy.
A runway should be more than a place where garments are presented. It should be a meeting point between creativity and commerce—a place where designers can encounter potential retailers, where emerging models can be recognised by industry leaders, where artists can build professional networks, and where compelling Papua New Guinean stories can reach audiences through credible media coverage.
For many designers, particularly those working independently or building businesses outside major commercial networks, access to the right person can become a turning point. A conversation with a retailer can lead to a stocking opportunity. A connection with a buyer can open a new market. A photograph or media feature can introduce a collection to thousands of people. A relationship with a marketing professional can help transform a creative practice into a sustainable and recognisable brand.
This is why PNG Fashion Week is actively calling upon retailers, wholesalers, fashion buyers, boutique owners, marketing specialists, business representatives and other people with a genuine interest in working with local and regional talent to apply.
Media and press professionals are also encouraged to seek accreditation. Journalists, broadcasters, editors and publishers play an important role in documenting the development of the fashion industry and ensuring that the achievements of Papua New Guinean creatives become part of the national conversation.
Applications are also open to professional photographers, videographers and content creators who can capture and communicate the energy, artistry and cultural significance of the event. Through responsible and respectful storytelling, visual media can carry the work of a designer far beyond the runway and introduce Papua New Guinea’s creative identity to the world.
PNG Fashion Week 2026 will bring together an extraordinary community of local and international designers, dozens of models and a wide network of artists, production professionals, entrepreneurs and cultural practitioners. Across two days, APEC Haus will become a centre of fashion, culture, enterprise and creative exchange.
The platform is not only presenting clothing. It is strengthening an ecosystem.
Behind every collection are textile suppliers, seamstresses, artisans, models, photographers, stylists, makeup artists, production teams and small businesses. When the fashion industry grows, opportunities are created across that entire value chain. Industry participation is therefore vital if runway exposure is to develop into employment, enterprise, investment and long-term commercial growth.
PNG Fashion Week is particularly interested in welcoming professionals who are prepared to engage meaningfully with participating talent. Industry Access is not simply about receiving a pass or attending an event—it is an invitation to discover new creative work, establish professional relationships and consider how Papua New Guinean designers and artists can be supported beyond the runway.
Not every person who attends will become a buyer or business partner immediately. However, every meaningful introduction strengthens the network surrounding the industry. Fashion advances when designers, audiences, media and commercial decision-makers gather in the same place with a shared willingness to connect.
As Papua New Guinea’s creative industries continue to gain recognition locally, regionally and internationally, platforms such as PNG Fashion Week are creating important pathways between cultural expression and economic participation. The country possesses immense creative talent, but talent must be seen, understood and connected to opportunity if it is to reach its full potential.
Industry Access has been created to help build that bridge.
Accreditation is limited, and eligible professionals are encouraged to apply early. Applications will be assessed to ensure that access is provided to individuals and organisations with a genuine professional interest in fashion, media, retail, marketing, business or the broader creative industries.
PNG Fashion Week is calling on the industry to gather—not only to watch what appears on the runway, but to participate in what can happen after it.
Those who can promote, purchase, stock, commission, employ, mentor or open doors for creative talent are invited to become part of the platform and help elevate Papua New Guinea’s designers, models and artists to their next level.
